Summary

The IT company Andersen invites a Data Engineer to join its team for working with our partners from Germany.

The customer is a leading European mass media company based in Germany. They operate free-to-air commercial TV channels, pay television channels, radio stations, and related print businesses. Their core business is advertising-financed free television, and they are known for providing popular entertainment and infotainment across various media platforms.

The project is a social networking app with a unique approach to dating and meeting new people. It has features like location-based matching and live video streaming, setting themselves apart from other dating apps.

Responsibilities

Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines using Python and SQL to support data ingestion, transformation, and analytics. Building and optimizing data models within cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, Databricks, or Google BigQuery to enable efficient querying and reporting. Collaborating with cross-functional teams including data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver appropriate solutions. Orchestrating and monitoring workflows using tools such as Apache Airflow and Databricks Workflows/Jobs to ensure reliable data processing and timely delivery. Implementing best practices for data quality, reliability, and performance across the data infrastructure. Participating in code reviews, contributing to architectural decisions, and continuously improving data engineering standards and processes. Maintaining and enhancing data access layers used in reporting tools such as SAP BusinessObjects. Monitoring system performance, troubleshoot issues, and proactively suggesting improvements for scalability and maintainability.

Requirements

Experience in Data Engineering roles for 2+ years. Strong Python skills for data processing and pipeline development. Solid experience writing and optimizing complex SQL queries. Hands-on experience with data warehouses: Snowflake, Databricks, or Google BigQuery (2+ preferred). Familiarity with ETL orchestration tools, especially Airflow. Understanding of data modeling, data quality, and performance optimization. Comfortable working in a cloud-based environment (AWS, GCP, or Azure). Strong communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams. Level of English – Upper-Intermediate and above.

Desired skills

Experience with Databricks Workflows/Jobs. Exposure to reporting tools like Business Objects.
