About the Company:

Our client is a B2B hotel tech scaleup headquartered in Amsterdam, Netherlands. With a dynamic team of around 45 employees, we are passionate about helping hotels drive incremental revenue through upselling and enhanced guest experiences. We are looking for a mid-to-senior level General Accountant.

Position Overview:

The General Accountant will play a critical role in managing the company's financial operations. As part of a small finance team, you will be a generalist, covering various accounting functions with a primary focus on owning the customer invoicing process through Ordway. You will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance with Dutch VAT regulations, and providing support for financial analysis, budgeting, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Customer Invoicing:
  • Manage the end-to-end customer invoicing process using Ordway.
  • Address customer queries related to their invoices.
  • Lead customer credit collection efforts.
• Bank Reconciliation:
  • Perform regular bank reconciliations in Xero, ensuring accurate financial records.
• Supplier Bill Processing:
  • Process supplier bills and prepare payment batches.
• Month-End and Year-End Close:
  • Prepare manual journal entries and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
  • Ensure timely month-end and year-end closing procedures.
• Dutch VAT Reporting:
  • Collaborate with an external local firm to prepare and file Dutch VAT reports on behalf of the company.
• Financial Reporting and Analysis:
  • Support the preparation of established and ad-hoc financial analysis and reports.
  • Assist with the annual budgeting cycle.
• Collaboration with Other Departments:
  • Work closely with Sales, Customer Success, and other departments to ensure smooth financial operations and customer experience.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3-5+ years of experience in general accounting, preferably in a small or medium-sized business environment.
• Proficiency with Xero accounting software.
• Experience with Ordway for customer invoicing is a strong plus.
• Solid understanding of Dutch VAT regulations and reporting.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams (Sales, Customer Success, etc.).
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks in a small finance function.
• Quick learner with a proactive and positive attitude.
• Comfortable performing a variety of tasks, from senior-level reporting to more junior-level duties such as processing payments.
• Excellent communication skills in both English and Dutch (a plus but not necessary).
