iMMAP Inc. is an international nonprofit organization that provides Information Management (IM), analysis, and geoinformatics services to its partners—humanitarian and development organizations—helping them make informed decisions that ultimately deliver high-quality, targeted assistance to the world’s most vulnerable populations.
iMMAP supports humanitarian actors to solve operational and strategic challenges. Their pioneering approach facilitates informed and effective emergency preparedness, humanitarian response, and development aid activities by enabling evidence-based decision-making for UN agencies, humanitarian cluster/sector leads, national and international NGOs, and government operations.
Background
Considering the scale and complexity of mine contamination in Ukraine, with approximately 137,000 km² remaining potentially contaminated and over 5.4 million people in need of mine action assistance, an effective, coordinated, and data-driven mine action response is critical. The programme seeks to strengthen information management capacity within Ukraine’s key Mine Action institutions through four strategic pillars, including Capacity Building and Training. In this regard, the Capacity Building Coordinator will lead the Capacity Building team in designing and delivering tailored, mine action-specific training in information management, GIS, data validation, data analysis, and data visualization, with a particular focus on operational workflows and reporting requirements specific to the mine action sector. Priority technical areas include ArcGIS, QGIS, Power BI, advanced Excel, including scripting, Google scripting, and data transformation processes.
The role also entails maintaining and further developing strong relationships with colleagues across various iMMAP. projects and relevant national and regional Mine Action partners to support capacity building and knowledge management, as well as planning towards the implementation of capacity strengthening work plan.
Description of Duties
The Capacity Building Coordinator is responsible for the following:
· Document training practices, methodologies, tools, and lessons learned, and coordinate with other iMMAP projects to ensure the internal dissemination of training materials;
· Coordinate the maintenance and further development of a platform for storing training materials and tools;
· Facilitate training curriculum design and regularly update the capacity strengthening workplan in line with partners’ needs;
· Coordinate and lead the development of tailored, mine action-specific training, with a strong emphasis on sector-specific workflows and reporting requirements;
· Liaise with partners to identify training needs and conduct follow-up and mentoring visits to organizations requiring additional support;
· Define training goals, objectives, terms of reference, and agendas;
· Review training evaluations and report on feedback and areas for improvement;
· Research, identify, and support the development of new information management tools to address mine action needs;
· Support the design and development of mine action solutions and end products;
· Strengthen staff capacity to use existing and emerging technologies in support of organizational objectives;
· Coordinate with technical working groups and partner mechanisms to assess mine action capacity and identify needs;
· Liaise with Ukraine project staff to identify training required to improve project performance;
· Perform any other duties as required.
Requirements
REQUIRED
· First-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree or higher) in information management, mine action, GIS, data analysis, international development, or a related field;
· A minimum of 5-7 years of progressively responsible professional experience in a humanitarian, emergency response, mine action, or related operational environment;
· Demonstrated experience in information management, data analysis, GIS, reporting, or capacity building;
· Proven experience in designing, delivering, and evaluating training or technical capacity strengthening activities;
· Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills;
· Demonstrated ability to work with diverse stakeholders, including government counterparts, technical partners, and humanitarian actors;
· Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities independently;
· Fluency in written and spoken English is required
DESIRED
Experience with Capacity Building coordination;Experience in the mine action sector or working with mine action stakeholders;Strong knowledge of ArcGIS, QGIS, Power BI, advanced Excel, or other relevant data tools;Experience working with national institutions and supporting institutional capacity strengthening.WORKING CONDITIONS
