Job Title: Medical Concierge Nurse
Location: Marylebone, London
Full time / 37.5 hours per week
Shift times Between 8am and 8pm (Monday to Friday) Plus On Call Responsibility
Permanent
Salary Up to £47,000 Dependant on experience. (Band 6)
We’re looking for a Medical Concierge Nurse to join our team based in Marylebone, London.
The Medical Concierge Nurse (MCN) is an exciting role within the HCA UK Medical Concierge Centre(MCC). The MCN facilitates patient transfers and admissions including interhospital transfers (UK and International – adult and paediatric), direct admissions (from GPs, ANPs and Consultants), outpatient appointments and second medical opinions, as directed by the Medical Concierge Lead (MCL). The MCN is a clinical non-patient facing role with an on-call component to cover the 24/7 MCC service.
The MCN assesses, plans, coordinates, and facilitates various patient referral pathways into HCA Healthcare UK whilst acting as the patient’s advocate.

What you’ll do:
Clinical Responsibilities:
To provide exemplary quality nursing advice and guidance and be responsible for facilitating patient admissions and transfers into the HCA Healthcare UK network.
The MCN is required to perform a review and assessment of medical notes to identify and select the most appropriate Consultant and facility for admission.
The MCL is required to perform a thorough and safe telephonic clinical assessment of patients care needs and suitability for admission in accordance with the HCA exclusion criteria.
They coordinate and oversee the admission process into HCA UK facilities ensuring escalation pathways are adhered to demonstrating a thorough understanding of the entire patient referral pathway.
To ensure safety and quality assurance, of all referrals and admissions whilst mitigating financial risk to the organisation.
To provide advice and guidance to carers and family members.
To ensure instructions from the MCL are actioned in a timely manner.
To ensure non-clinical staff are offered support and guidance to manage their cases.
Adheres to the agreed pathways and procedures in the standard operational manual ensuring a high standard of good quality and safe nursing practice.
Professional Responsibilities:
To to uphold the reputation of the Nursing profession at all times and display a personal commitment to the standards of practice and behaviour set out in the NMC code of conduct.
Ensures they meet the requirements for revalidation
Participates in the relevant meetings within the MCC.
Maintains an environment conducive to other staff.
Reports to the MCM or MCL any operational or clinical incidents and be aware of the hospitals policy for voicing concerns.
Adheres to the HCA UK MCC Service standards
Management and Leadership responsibilities:
To establish and maintain communication with individuals and groups and about difficult or complex matters overcoming any problems in communication.
To maintain appropriate channels and styles of communication to meet the needs of patients, relatives, internal stakeholders (such as service managers and peers) and 3rd parties (service providers).
To use effective prioritisation, problem solving and delegation skills to manage time effectively.
To provide timely feedback to the MCL, MCM or HMC if any concerns are identified.
Provides leadership during on-call shift overseeing the case load and the on-call team.
What you’ll bring:
A Registered Nurse or Midwife with post registration experience at Band 5 or above - at least 5 years of experience
Experience in a specialist area, case management, patient flow or site lead role. - Desirable
Demonstrative IT Skills in MS office and with clinical databases.
Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
Clinical assessment skills, confident in challenging decisions to ensure the patient needs are met
Knowledge and understanding of safe admissions and patient transfers
Knowledge of the deteriorating patient and life threatening conditions
Evidence of continuous professional development in clinical area.
