Summary

Andersen is looking for a Backend Developer (Node.js) based in Germany to join a project for the country’s largest online retailer of premium bathroom, lighting, and home design products. The role involves rewriting the existing platform from scratch using modern technologies (Node.js and React), with a focus on improving performance, scalability, and user experience, while also introducing new features.

The customer is the Germany’s largest online retailer specializing in high-quality bathroom, lighting, and home design products. With a catalog of over 250 premium brands and hundreds of thousands of items, it offers a wide selection at competitive prices. Known for its innovative spirit, customer-first philosophy, and commitment to quality.

The project is to rewrite an existing site on the new technologies (Node.js + React).

Responsibilities

Rebuilding the backend system from scratch using a modern tech stack. Designing scalable architecture and implementing new features. Migrating data and ensuring a smooth transition from the legacy system. Developing and documenting robust APIs. Ensuring high code quality through testing and code reviews. Optimizing performance, security, and reliability. Collaborating with cross-functional teams and maintaining clear documentation.

Requirements

Commercial experience with Node.js for 4+ years. Strong proficiency in TypeScript. Experience with Elasticsearch or Solr. Solid experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (MariaDB/MySQL, MongoDB). Hands-on experience with Express.js or FeathersJS. Experience building and documenting REST APIs. Familiarity with Docker and CI/CD pipelines. Experience with Redis and BullMQ. Experience of writing unit/integration tests using Jest. Working knowledge of Swagger, ESLint, Git. Familiarity with Nx and monorepo architecture. Experience with Grafana. Knowledge of PM2. Experience with Kibana. English – from Intermediate+ and above.

Desired skills

Knowledge of Podman. Experience with Prometheus. Understanding of React, Next.js, Webpack.
