The Federal Chancellery is seeking to fill a permanent position in Division 114 "Information and Communication Technology" at its Berlin office.

an IT specialist (m/f/d) for VS communication systems.

The Federal Chancellery provides comprehensive support to the Federal Chancellor in his tasks and coordinates the work within the Federal Government. Division 114 is responsible for the secure operation and continuous development of information and communication technology. To this end, we operate our own systems and work closely with external service providers from the federal administration and the private sector.

As part of the digitization and modernization of our IT infrastructure, we are looking for a dedicated reinforcement with expertise and enthusiasm for network technologies, especially in the area of IPv6 integration and protection.

What you can expect from us:

• Planning, design and further development of a fail-safe, highly available and protected IPv6 network infrastructure for the various users (ICT, building services engineering, Internet, classified information [VS])
• Protection and redundancy management for the IPv6 network implemented for the first time, including crisis resilience and emergency strategies
• Operation and administration of the network infrastructures with a special focus on security and classified information requirements
• Development of technical standards and security concepts for a future-proof, high-performance and secure network
• Collaboration with internal and external partners to implement, test and optimize network solutions
• Advising and supporting internal departments with regard to secure and efficient network use

What you bring to the table:

• Successfully completed studies (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) in communications engineering or another relevant field of study or comparable experience and skills in the form of several years of demonstrable and relevant professional experience with relevant training certificates and comprehensive knowledge of the technologies used in the field of activity
• In-depth knowledge of IPv6 network technologies, in particular planning, protection and redundancy mechanisms
• Experience with network security, encryption technologies and secure communication infrastructures
• Understanding of modern IT architectures, cloud technologies and mobile networks
• Good knowledge of classified information instructions (VSA) and experience in material security is an advantage
• German language skills (business fluent - levelC1) and good English language skills (levelB1) are essential - (indication of competence level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
• Strong teamwork skills, initiative and a solution-oriented, analytical way of working
• High sense of responsibility
• absolute discretion and willingness to cooperate in an extended security check with security investigations in accordance with §10 of the Security Check Act

If the personal requirements are met, the tasks to be performed allow for classification up to pay group 12 TVöD. The level classification is based on your professional experience and previous career.

We can therefore offer you an annual salary of up to 86,700 euros (incl. ministerial allowance). Depending on the applicant situation, the payment of an additional temporary specialist allowance of up to 1,000 euros per month is possible for tariff employees. If the personal requirements are met, a subsequent appointment as a civil servant may be possible.
If you are already employed in the civil service or are a civil servant (up to grade A 13 g, without official allowance), we will seek a secondment/assignment with the aim of transferring you or taking you on.

The Federal Chancellery pays an allowance of 275 euros for work at the highest federal authorities (so-called "ministerial allowance"). In addition, tariff employees receive a company pension through the Federal and State Pension Institution.

We offer a good "work-life balance" with flexible working hours and the option to work from home within the scope of official circumstances, as well as 30 days of vacation per calendar year. In addition, we can grant you up to 18 days of compensatory time off within a year if you have sufficient time credits.
